Empire Truck Lines, Inc. is aware of its responsibility for the safety and health of all its employees and those providing services to Empire as independent contractors. Empire considers no phase of a job, operation or administration to be more important than accident prevention and will not create unacceptable risks to human health or the environment.
Empire considers safety to be a tool of production because the efficiency of any industrial operation can be measured directly by its ability to control unnecessary loss. Accidents resulting in personal injury and damaged property and equipment represent needless waste that must be controlled. It is, therefore, Empire's policy:

Recognize and accept responsibility for establishing the guidelines and the framework within which a good safety program can operate;

Assist all supervisors in their efforts to conduct and enforce the total Safety Program;

Emphasize to all personnel that they have a personal responsibility to themselves and to their fellow employees to follow safe work practices;

Comply with the safety regulations issued under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) as well as other state and local laws relating to safety and health matters;

Conduct an ongoing accident prevention program with appropriate documentation as evidence of Empire's commitment to control loss, both personal and material.
Empire encourages all of its employees and contractors to develop and demonstrate an attitude that will reflect this policy and to observe the safety rules at all times. It is imperative that all personnel recognize that Empire must have a total safety effort from each and every person involved in order to achieve our goal of safety and loss prevention.
